International Dogs

A difficult reality – and hope for the future

Hope has no Borders.

Rescuing dogs internationally is one of the most challenging—and most life-changing—parts of our mission.

Our International Mission

Almost Golden Rescue is committed to rescuing dogs internationally.

In parts of Asia, the reality for many dogs—including sweet, gentle large breeds—is heartbreaking. They are abandoned, discarded like trash, or bred for profit with no regard for their wellbeing. Many end up in overcrowded, cold, and unsanitary shelters where inhumane conditions are the norm. Dogs are crammed into stacked cages, living in fear without warmth, comfort, or consistent food. Others fall into the Dog Meat Slaughter Trade—a brutal industry where compassion is absent and cruelty is routine.

While awareness is slowly growing, without intervention, their futures remain bleak.

Due to ever-changing CDC restrictions, our rescue efforts in China have had to slow and adapt. But our commitment to these dogs—and to the global fight on their behalf—remains strong. By partnering with compassionate rescuers on the ground, we are bringing dogs to safety—off cold concrete floors, out of rusted wire cages, and into loving arms.

This work is not easy, and it is expensive (approximately $2,700 to rescue a dog from Asia), but it is essential.
